The Southdown Ramblers at the Countryman Inn
As 2010 draws to a close, looking back it's fair to say that this has been a very exciting year for the Southdown Ramblers, with many successful live performances and of course the release of the band's debut CD "Movin' On"! Over the course of the summer the band played twice at the picturesque Countryman Inn in Shipley, sold out Amberley Folk Club and made successful returns to Pulborough Harvest Fair and the Arundel Festival Big Weekend of Music for the second year running, with a number of other enjoyable appearances as well!

The band's CD has been very well-received and has sold a healthy number - thanks to all the band's friends and fans who've purchased a copy!

The Southdown Ramblers are looking forward to another fun- and music-filled year in 2011, starting on Wednesday 19th January with an extended 40-minute set at The Willows Folk Club, one of the band's favourite venues. The Ramblers are also looking forward to playing at another highly-regarded venue, Seaford Folk Club, in March - check out the Appearances page for more information!

The band would like to extend their warmest wishes of the Christmas season to all of you, and hope to see you again in the New Year!

23/03/10 | Winter Roundup
The Southdown Ramblers in the recording studio
Since the start of the new year, The Southdown Ramblers have been very busy, combining their regular, monthly 20-minute support slot at Washington Music Club with rehearsing for their weekend in the recording studio, recording their debut album! The album is now completely recorded and mixed, and work is underway to get the album released as soon as possible!

The CD was recorded at Glade Recordings in Southbourne, under the watchful eye of producer Alistair Russell - Alistair has had a fantastic career as a recording artist (most notably with legendary Scottish group The Battlefield Band), and also as a producer and recording engineer, producing albums for some of the very finest names in folk & acoustic music.

The band are currently taking a short break from their regular 20-minute support slot at Washington Music Club, but return on Friday 4th June to play a full headlining evening at the club! The band have a number of exciting performances coming up in the summer and these, coupled with the release of their new CD, means that 2010 is set to be the most exciting year yet for the Southdown Ramblers!

01/12/09 | Autumn Roundup
The Southdown Ramblers at the Willows Folk Club
The Southdown Ramblers have had a really enjoyable autumn, with the highlight being a barnstorming appearance at Arundel's Willows Folk Club - the band kicked off the first of the club's new Showcase Special evenings by performing a 40-minute set, sharing the bill with vocal harmony trio Three's Company.

Unfortunately the band can no longer make their previously scheduled December spot at Washington Music Club - however, the band are hoping to play a two-song floorspot at the Willows' Christmas Party on Weds 16th December. The band will be continuing to appear regularly at the Washington Club throughout 2010, and in June will be playing a full evening there - check out the appearances page for more info!

Last but not least, the band's debut CD is still in the works! We've no new info to release just yet, but as soon as there's any development on this front, we'll be sure to let all of you know!

01/10/09 | Summer Roundup
The Southdown Ramblers at Arundel Festival
Welcome to the Southdown Ramblers' new-look website! After spending some time offline, the Ramblers' official site is now back with a new look, which we hope you'll enjoy. Over the coming months we hope to keep this site regularly updated with details of the band's performances and other news.

The Southdown Ramblers had a very enjoyable and successful summer - in addition to their regular 20-minute slot at Washington Music Club, the band also enjoyed appearing at an all-day music event in West Chiltington, taking part in this year's Arundel Festival, and also providing the live music for this year's Pulborough Harvest Fair.

The band are now looking forward to the autumn season, with some more great performances - and, although at the moment the plans are still in their embryonic stages, due to fan demand the band are hoping to finally record their debut album sometime in the next few months. If and when this happens, you can be sure we'll bring you the news right here on the Ramblers' new-look website!
